NEWS UPDATE
CORRESPONDENCE COURSE 1
Macknit is launching a CORRESPONDENCE COURSE for beginners. The Course is up and running and the first batch of students has already begun the journey to knit their first jumper on their machines. The Course has been devised and written by Helga Guyot, the well-known teacher, author and mentor from Sydney, and is for Brother, Empisal and Singer machines. As each student enrols, she/he will be sent Lesson 1, which requires several samples be sent back to Helga for comment and assessment. Helga will return these assessed samples together with Lesson 2 to the student. In this way the student progresses though all 6 Lessons of Course 1. The student can work at his/her own pace and there is no time limit. Afte the successful completion of Course 1, Macknit will award the student a Certificate.
Where possible we will find each student a volunteer knitting buddy in their area who can offer advice and help.
If you are interested in doing the Correspondence Course, contact either Carol Hayward or Barbara Fletcher. (Look on the "Your Committee" page for contact details.)
This is a huge initiative on the part of the Association. As far as we are aware this if the only Correspondence Course of its type available in Australia for machine knitting. We believe the Course will fill a need throughout the country. Other Courses, for those who can already knit basic garments following a pattern, are beng developed for future release.
So spread the word. If you know of someone who would like to learn to machine knit with a structured course, give them our contact details. Macknit, can help!
